like if its growing downwards, do you wax upwards??

It depends on the wax you are using. You always rip the wax off in the opposite direction of the hair growth but if you are using strip wax then you apply the wax in the same direction of the hair growth but if you are using the hot wax (the type that hardens) then you apply it against the hair growth. Again, when removing the wax you always rip it off against the hair growth.
